Recently purchased a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT with 8900 miles. Car was immaculate, so began staging for a full bolt-ons build-up that would increase HP gains, but wouldn’t void the manufacturer’s warranty. Parts used were American Racing long tube headers, Magnaflow exhaust, Rotofab CAI, Powerbond underdrive pulley, throttle body port & polish and East Texas Muscle Cars custom dyno tune. A stock dyno pull was performed, producing 302RWHP. After all upgrades were complete, the final dyno pull produced 371RWHP and 387RWTQ. The moment of truth…our project 1969 Pontiac Firebird “Routy” came home from the media blaster. We had the interior, underside, trunk, and firewall of the body tub blasted, along with stacks of smaller parts like the inner fender wells, the radiator core support, and all the bumper brackets. We also had the complete subframe and suspension parts blasted, but that’s a different story. This time, we’re taking a closer look at the condition of the body. This car had many previous repairs, and it’s not really fair for us to point out the details of previous work, but we think it’s important to illustrate what we found and to make some observations on what we’re starting with.

www.1aauto.com shows you how to replace a front control arm on a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire. This procedure is exactly the same for any 1995-2005 Chevrolet Cavalier and Pontiac Sunfire. This procedure is also generally the same for any vehicle with a macpherson front strutsuspension. As you can see by the video this is an involved replacement but it is not impossible for the do-it-yourselfer. Access to a lift is a big plus but not necessary. You may need to replace the front control arms on your car if you are feeling a pulling when braking and that pull is transferring to your hands through the steering wheel. This repair is moderate. It requires a floor jack, jack stands, and then basic tools, wrenches, hammers, pry bars. Beyond that it does require a “pickle fork” or ball joint fork which is a more specialized tool that not everyone has in their DIY tool set.

www.v8tvshow.com – Andrew Borodin’s 1970 Pontiac GTO has been around the block a few times, and keeps picking up new tricks at every turn. This time, Andrew ditched the previous mill – a Big Block Chevy – in exchange for a new-tech, lightweight, all aluminum GM L92 6.2 liter V8. The GTO rolls on a trick – but simple – suspension that sticks in the turns and features Corvette brakes. After adding a few goodies like Corvette accessories and intake manifold, he jammed in an LS7 camshaft and now the Goat runs 12′s, goes around corners like crazy, and still racks up 23 MPG. Watch the video to learn how.. and to see it on the drag strip and the autocross!
